There are a number of excellent restaurants in the Faroe Islands offering everything from traditional local cuisine through to pizza. There's fine dining gourmet food, classy hotel restaurants, intimate cafes serving home made food, large steak diners and fresh fish restaurants.

You'll find most restaurants in and around Torshaven however the smaller towns and villages also boast fine quality cuisine and as you'd expect, seafood is the speciality.

Whilst most plump for the excellent fish dishes, tourists are often put off by the thought of eating the Faroes other national dishes of whale or puffin. Some restaurants can cater for those willing to give it a try however.
